Historically having a widget for a particular social network on personal blogs or websites has proven extremely popular. I personally have always enjoyed using widgets for Twitter and Facebook on my various websites. It helps to bridge the gaps and bring together your various web properties, as well as allowing people to be able to connect with you in a number of different ways.
Although Google haven’t brought out many “bells and whistles” features yet, but rather are making sure that the core Google+ features are seen to, I am sure that they will bring out those extra fancy things sooner or later. I am talking about things like widgets, Google+ search, etc.
Although Google haven’t yet allowed third party developers access to any form of API or similar, they are currently accepting applications to join the Google+ Developer Group. In the meantime various developers are wanting to add value to the Google+ community and making whatever web apps they can from the little Google+ data that is currently publicly avaliable. For example, yesterday we looked at a third party Google+ search app.
A website called Google+ Statistics have developed an easy to use Google+ widget which you can easily put on your website or blog.
In the video tutorial below I am going to show you how to ad this Google+ widget to your website or blog.
As demonstrated in the video above, the process for getting the code for your own Google+ widget is as follows:
- Go to the Google+ Statistics website

- Sign in with Google

- Scroll down to the “Google+ Statistics Widget” on the right hand side and copy the code

- Insert the code into the relevant place in your website code (as I am using WordPress, for me this is in a “text widget” which allows you to paste HTML code!) and bam! You have yourself a Google+ widget. You are officially the coolest kid in town!

I hope that this tutorial has been helpful and that you enjoy your new Google+ widget.
Please make sure that you subscribe to Google+ Tutorials to make sure that you get the latest tutorials as we posts them.
