With any big release there are going to be a lot of people with a lot of questions!
Since the release of Google’s new social network, Google+ on June 28th the internet has gone crazy with people talking about the service and more importantly asking a lot of questions.
As well as providing some awesome more detailed tutorials about Google+ features, we thought that it would be valuable to have a section devoted to quickfire answers to frequently asked questions about Google+.
Here at Google+ Tutorials, we are not affiliated with Google in any way, so the answers to these questions are purely based on our knowledge and opinions. However we will do our best to be as accurate and helpful as possible.
We will keep adding questions and answers to this page as time goes by, as well as making sure that it is constantly kept up to date with the latest information.
I Have A Question!
What is Google+?
Google+ is a social network that was released by Google on June 28, 2011.
Currently Google+ is in an invite-only testing stage, but is expected to launch fully and publicly soon.
How Can I Get a Google+ Invite?
Right now the only way to have a Google+ account is for an existing Google+ user to invite you. This is easy enough to do, but even still Google are only allowing a certain number of new signups at a time, so you may have to wait a little while!
We have written a cool little guide to getting yourself a Google+ invite called “How To Get a Google+ Invite – The Ultimate Guide“, you should check that out.
If you are already a Google+ user and would like to invite your friends, you should check out our tutorial “How To Invite Your Friends To Google+”.
If you don’t have anyone that is able to invite you to Google+ please follow our Twitter account and we will try to help you to get onto Google+ as and when there is availability.
How Do I Invite My Friends To Google+?
If you are already a Google+ user and would like to invite your friends, you don’t need to have any “official” invites. For mor information on how to invite your friends to Google+ check out our tutorial “How To Invite Your Friends To Google+”.
Is Google+ Like Facebook?
Kind of, but it depends what you mean by that! In the sense that Google+ is a social network intended to help you connect with your friends online, then yes it is like Facebook.
However, Google are clearly trying to go head to head with Facebook and provide a better service. Therefore in that sense Google+ is very different to Facebook. It has various features that are not avaliable on Facebook and deals with the organization of your friends in a very different way.
To sum up, I would say that Google+ is a social network set up to connect you to your friends online, but with a completely new spin and never before seen features.
Is Google+ Like Twitter?
Kind of, but it depends what you mean by that! Twitter is a micro-blogging platform and social network to help you connect with people online. In that sense Google+ is similar, but it also has much more to offer.
Within Google+ you can have something called “Circles”, these are for grouping together certain groups of people, for instance family, work colleagues, or your gym buddies.
With Circles Google+ makes it very easy for you to share status updates or other content with just particular circles. This is handy because for most of us there will often be situations, where, for example, we want to share something, with just our family, or indeed we have a status update to share that we would rather our family not see!
I hope that helps you to see the ways in which Google+ is similar to Twitter.
