Google has finally unveiled their long awaited “Brand Pages”! This is going to be a big deal for any business or brand, small or large, who wants to capture their audience in the social space.
So far Google+ has focused on connecting people with other people. But we want to make sure you can build relationships with all the things you care about—from local businesses to global brands—so today we’re rolling out Google+ Pages worldwide. – Vic Gundotra (via the Official Google Blog)
Some of the first brands to have their own brand page are:
- All American Rejects
- Angry Birds
- Dallas Cowboys
- Fox News
- Good Morning America
- The Muppets
- Save the Children
- X Games
At first glance they look a lot like a normal Google+ profile, with the exception of a small business page logo next to their name. For example here is the Angry Birds page:
Having set up a brand page for GPlusTuts (circle us!) one of the neatest features is the fact that the brand page is totally connected to the creators Google+ account, yet sort of acts as it’s own account too. This means that as a brand you can circle people, start hangouts, send messages, etc. The only thing that I would note on this point is that right now as a page you can only circle people who have already circled you. This is a fantastic opportunity for brands and businesses to not only have a presence on Google+ but to really get involved in engaging with their fans a customers on an extremely personal level.
Because the new Google+ pages feature has been fully rolled out anyone can now set up a page for their brand or business. It is really easy to do, all you have to do is visit this page, fill in a few details and you are away!
It is then a case of spreading the work about your new page, circling people back and putting out some awesome content!
